Volvo 740 was produced in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992. During this time, the model was updated. In this publication, we will present a description of the fuses and relays of the Volvo 740 760 with a diagram of the unit and its location. Note the fuse responsible for the cigarette lighter.

The purpose of fuses and relays may differ from that shown and depends on the year of manufacture, level of electrical equipment and region of delivery of your vehicle.

Fuse and relay box

The main block with fuses and relays is located in the passenger compartment, in the middle of the panel, behind the ashtray. To access the block, it must be removed.

Additional fuses

The glow plugs and wiring are protected by a dedicated 80 amp fuse located under the relay (130). 1985 diesel models differ from 1984 models in that they have a different glow plug control unit (P/N 1348 339) with an 80 amp fuse instead of a relay.

On vehicles equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), the system is protected by (2) additional fuses. (1) 10 Amp fuse located in the trunk on the right side and (1) 80 Amp fuse located on the left inner fender.

  • ’88-’92: The ABS system is protected by an additional 10 amp fuse which is built into the surge protector on the brake pedal mount.
  • ’88-91 (780): The system also includes a 10 amp fuse for the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) function. It is built into the surge protector on the pedal mount.
  • ’89-91 (780): On battery – two 30A fuses for front/rear amps (not Italy)
  • ’89-91 (780): On the left suspension strut – one 10 amp fuse for the high performance turbo system (B230FT).
